Building Stamina Fast
Stamina is an important part of any fitness regimen.
Without it,
you'll find yourself getting tired faster and having to call off your
workouts early. Here are some tips on the types of exercises and
fitness
equipment you can use to help you increase your stamina.
But before you even think about what gym equipment to use to
build stamina, think about what you do with your body. A healthy diet
and at least eight hours of sleep a night will do wonders for your
endurance. If you're not getting these, you will be making a lot more
work for yourself.
At the gym, you should focus on fitness
equipment that helps you improve your cardio training, such as
treadmills, stationary bikes, or elliptical trainers. Interval
training on this gym equipment is a great way to build your stamina
-- alternate short periods of slower running or pedaling with longer,
steady periods at a faster pace.
Moving on to other types of
gym equipment, consider weights -- either weight machines, Bowflex,
or free weights. The fastest way to build stamina with this fitness
equipment is to go heavy on the repetitions. The goal is to work your
muscles to exhaustion. But you should work with relatively light
weights. It might be tempting to increase the weight in order to tire
out your muscles faster, but all you will be doing is increasing the
risk of injury. Similarly, don't do stamina training with weights on
a specific body part for two days in a row -- you might wind up
overstressing yourself.
Having increased stamina might not be
as appealing as having a bodybuilder's physique, but it will benefit
you in many aspects of your life going forward, and it will make it
much easier to hit your other fitness goals.
